The new Vice President of Facilities Management (VPFM) will provide leadership to bring major improvement to the physical facilities of Appalachian REgional Healthcare (ARH) so that patient care is strengthened, and the productivity of invested capital and operations resources is greatly accelerated. Through leadership and management skill, the VPFM will endeavor to fulfil the mission, vision and values of the system which includes:

Vision – ARH will be the premier destination for quality care, a driver of advancement and development, and a leader in health for the communities we serve.
Additionally, the VPFM will guide their department’s activities to strengthen ARH’s performance in achieving healthcare’s “Triple Aim”:
Patient Safety & Quality – Developing and improving a safe and cost-effective clinical culture that produces predictable patient outcomes
Service – Developing and improving a service culture that supports and engages employees, medical staff, patients and the community
Financial Efficiency – Developing and improving a cost-effective operating culture that achieves established objectives.
The VPFM will provide leadership in the following areas:
Capital Projects – Coordinating the design, planning and execution of all capital (land and facility) projects.
Facility Management – Designing and implementing building management controls that improve efficiency and operating cost.
Capital Planning – Developing and prioritizing short- and long-term facility and property capital plans.
Lease Management – Managing the organization’s property leases, whether ARH is the tenant or landlord.
Other Strategic Initiatives – Leading or participating in other strategic initiatives as needed.
In providing leadership in those business areas, the VPFM will manage their department and activities along the following dimensions:
Department Performance – Implementing impactful strategies and plans to achieve performance objectives, timelines, and outcomes.
Project Management and Planning – Utilizing project management techniques and practices to achieve established performance objectives.
Financial Effectiveness – Developing an operating culture that conducts daily activities in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
Patient Safety & Quality, Accreditation – Providing facilities and environments that optimize the efficient delivery of safe, high quality medical services through a working knowledge of applicable accreditation standards and building safety codes is essential.
People, Service & Engagement – Improving the engagement, loyalty, recruitment, and retention of employees. Interacting with employees and leaders across the organization. Being visible throughout the system’s four regions to inspire conversations that lend to understanding, commitment and loyalty of these key groups.
Leadership Development – Establishing a leadership development and succession strategy to ensure a culture that advances realization of each employee’s potential. Leading with courage to mentor, and coach a high-performing, collaborative team. Demonstrating through their own behaviors, decision-making and management approaches that create a culture of learning, growing, performing, and appreciating.
Corporate Citizenry – Being a good corporate citizen. Abiding by established policies and procedures, behavioral standards, and other expectations. Working effectively within ARH’s matrixed reporting environment. Working effectively with regional- and system-level resources. Master Degree (preferred) in Health Administration, Business Administration, or equivalent
10 years in healthcare administration, healthcare capital project management, or combination thereof, required
