Job Summary Works under the supervision of the Director/AVP of Plant Operations and Maintenance. Responsible for the day-to-day planning, organization and direction of the Plant Operations and Maintenance functions for the assigned department(s) within the facility. Manages the implementation and administration of standards, audit methodologies and staff training to meet or exceed all TJC and Federal, State and Local regulatory requirements. Oversees safety compliance and installation of capital projects as assigned throughout assigned department(s). Performs other duties as assigned by the Director/AVP of Plant Operations and Maintenance.
Department Summary: Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center (CMC) Plant Operations and Maintenance (POM) consists of 40 FTEs maintaining over 3 MIL sqft of healthcare buildings ranging in age from 10 to 60 yrs. Our campus is currently designing new hospitals that will provide an additional 1 MIL sqft to manage within the next few years.
Essential Functions •Maintains departmental goals and objectives for assigned facility(ies) in support of the CHS Plant Operations and Maintenance strategic goals. •Coordinates interdepartmental and intradepartmental services as appropriate. Maintains excellent communications with Director/AVP of Plant Operations and Maintenance through routine meetings and correspondence. •Coordinates and implements the EOC/SOC documentation standards and training to support TJC compliance at assigned department(s). Coordinates implementation of standardized reporting for assigned department(s) as specified by Director AVP of Plant Operations and Maintenance. Implements an effective audit program to assure timely compliance. •Conducts routine staff meetings for employee training and distribution of information related to the department and organization. •Maintains awareness of major utilities, area maintenance and/or equipment problems for assigned departments and reports status to Director/AVP of Plant Operations and the appropriate safety committee. Identifies cost saving projects/process improvements implemented in assigned department(s) and reports successful projects to Director/AVP of Plant Operations for further implementation. •Monitors and implements departmental budget(s) in keeping with CHS budget guidelines. Assures budget is maintained within acceptable parameters. Maintains staffing levels within budget guidelines. •Coordinates orientation of new employees and provides in-service education and continuing education for all staff. •Screens, hires and retains personnel, evaluations, competency evaluations, performance reviews, work scheduling, time reporting, making recommendations for wage and salary application, promotions, and progressive discipline up to and including termination.
Physical Requirements Must be mobile within entire facility(ies) and climb, lift, crawl, squat and kneel to observe work and conditions. Ability to sense vibration, smells, heat and cold. Exposed to hazardous chemical and materials, hot piping, steam, live electrical systems, uneven or unsteady walking surfaces, construction hazards, and may work from ladder or other precarious platforms.
Education, Experience and Certifications Associates Degree required; Bachelors Degree preferred. 3 years of experience to include supervisory experience required; healthcare experience preferred. Ability to use computers and office equipment required. Valid Drivers license required. CHFM and experience with BMS, CMMS and automated fire systems preferred. Knowledge of relevant NFPA codes, TJC standards and relevant state and local codes preferred.
