A significant accomplishment in 2019 has been the collective effort in establishing the current strategic plan. It was carefully designed to guide and challenge, while positioning Spectrum Health to meet the needs of the consumer for years to come. The Vice President, Facilities and Real Estate is a key leadership position reporting directly to the CFO and will provide guidance and leadership as it relates to all facilities, design & construction, facility planning, and real estate management areas. She/he will be a key thought leader contributing to the ongoing success, evolution and growth of the organization. The system currently has a physical footprint that includes 13 million square feet of space and one million square feet of leased space.
A notable initiative in progress is the development of the new Center for Transformation and Innovation, which will consolidate 26 existing offices in Grand Rapids into one new facility. The Center will house several offices, including human resources, finance, facilities management, medical group and other back-office functions. It will also be a learning center that will help promote innovation and advancements within the system. The facility, expected to open in 2022, will be on property Spectrum Health owns in Grand Rapids southwest of the Cornerstone University campus. The Center for Transformation and Innovation will be key to helping Spectrum to realize their vision to provide personalized health that is simple, affordable and exceptional.
The ideal candidate will have 10 + years’ experience in real estate and/or design and construction and senior leadership experience in an organization of relevant size, scale and complexity. A Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration or related field is required, and a Master’s degree is preferred.
