The System VP for Construction and Projects has overall accountability for system management, planning, performance coordination and oversight of construction activity and projects to include people, functions and finances.
Project management includes the oversight of major building projects, capital construction, facility renewal initiatives and relocation and space management across Fairview. Responsibilities include: construction, space planning and coordination, assisting with the Master Facility Planning, establishing and maintaining standards and strategies that reduce variation, duplication and costs, and increase quality across the hospitals, clinics and non-clinical space.
The individual is expected to collaborate and coordinate with the Real Estate team and regional leaders to maximize efficiency and standardization. The Leader assures that customers are the focus of all business activities and that patient and employee satisfaction is essential.
Manages Construction, Projects and Space
Directs the solicitation and selection of Architect, Engineering and Construction Services across Fairview within established process meeting organizational goals while removing variation and reducing related costs.
Reviews plans and specifications for accuracy, completeness and compliance with codes, standards and regulatory compliance.
Conducts field inspections of work in progress to protect the investment and maintain schedules.
Participates in regular project meetings to maintain accurate and timely project management and to minimize change orders.
Manages the space request and planning process.
Coordinates activities with outside organizations as required including the department of health and municipalities.
Prepares construct, project and space monthly reports and advises the System Executive on activity, opportunities and concerns.
Approves pay applications for contractors.
Supports and collaborates in the development of best practice processes and implements across Fairview
Develops system policies in collaboration with other leaders.

Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related field
Masters Degree in Engineering or Business Administration
Certified Healthcare Facility Manager, or have the ability to obtain within 18 months of hire.
Certification(s) in the Engineering field (i.e.: HVAC; mechanical engineering)
Six years directly related management experience in healthcare/hospital setting construction field
Ten years related Facility Management and Construction Experience
