Director of Engineering Services Position

The Director of Engineering Services will provide management and direction of engineering design services in the Facilities Planning Design and Construction department with a portfolio of projects that ranges from $600 million to over $1 billion annually.   Additionally, the Director:

• Represents FPDC to provide engineering direction on new construction and renovation of existing space at MD Anderson pertaining to Research, Patient Care, Vivarium Facilities, Master Planning and other project types.

• Holds responsible for the strategic planning of facility renewal in support of operations and maintenance.

• Acts as departmental liaison with external professional consultants regarding architectural services; external consulting engineers and other professional consultants.

• Assures compliance with applicable building codes and other regulatory requirements governing the provision of engineering design services.

Operations and Maintenance Support   Develops and implements processes to manage engineering in support of the Operations and Maintenance departments in their effort to manage the institution's assets and environment. Develop and oversee the strategic facility renewal program including facility condition assessments. 

Project Support  Develops and implements processes to manage the technical expectations of capital and expense projects; to provide consulting and (in-house) professional engineering services for remodeling, renovation, new construction, and equipment replacement projects; provide engineering technical support for Owner Design Guidelines. Provide oversight and review of commissioning efforts on capital projects.

Strategic Engineering Direction Provides strategic engineering direction in support of the Long Term Capital Plan on conceptual site utilization studies and plans for proposed new buildings. Forecast future utility growth needs in support of the LTCP.  Responsible for the campus wide utility master plan.  Oversees the implementation of the energy initiatives in support of the energy strategic plan.
