Supervises the general operation and maintenance of the Central Power Plant, HVACR, electrical staff, and grounds maintenance. Perform matters of performance reviews, discipline, budget development, planning, training of personnel in their general and specific duties, safety and effective management. Recommends, schedules and supervises specialty outside contractors working on hospital equipment within his/her area of responsibility as circumstances indicate. Project Manager for many engineering specific projects, including scheduling, approving special work permits, approving and coordinating outages, and overseeing major project work, all with minimal oversight. Manages equipment related projects. Works closely with other departments and Hospital Administration. Negotiates priorities, plans work schedules, makes job assignments, orders materials, supplies and parts. Performs Contracting function by developing RFP’s, comparing and negotiating Contracts for outside services, and tracking Key Performance Indicators to ensure vendor adherence to Contract terms. Performs Purchasing function by submitting Requisitions for vendor work, tracking Purchase Orders, and ensuring vendor billing accuracy and adherence to requirements. Performs Accounts Payable function by working with vendors to resolve billing disputes, verifying billing info, and tracking invoice payments to ensure vendors get paid correctly and in a timely manner. Ensures compliance with regulations and requirements of governing bodies, including standards for healthcare facilities from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and The Joint Commission, environmental standards of the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), insurance company safety requirements, and regulations from NFPA, OSHA, MOSH, Anne Arundel County Department of Inspections and Permits, and State of Maryland Departments of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation. Provides direction to assigned personnel. Completes assigned tasks in a timely manner. Manages the general operation and repair of HVACR systems. Manages the maintenance of all hospital grounds. Manages snow removal for the entire facility, and remains on call when there is a chance of inclement weather during the winter months to ensure sufficient resources are available. Interviews, orients, trains, evaluates, and disciplines assigned staff. Performs on call coverage as needed. Manages the daily activities of assigned staff.
Informs corporate energy purchases to ensure compliance with government regulations, and corporate energy and environmental policies. Prepares monthly electrical billing for facility tenants.
