The Sr. Machine Learning Implementation and Evaluation Engineer works onartificial intelligence/machine learning initiatives in healthcare including projects in computer vision and natural language processing to improve patient care (e.g., optimizing patient diagnosis and treatment). Working closely with information technology and data scientistpartners, this role leverages various machine learning techniques including deep learning and distributed learning approaches like federated learning.
This role will manage machine learning services throughout the services' lifecycle in support of internal IT operations and research services across internal and external entities. This role will support the training of models, piloting of approaches, evaluation of models over time, and implementation of models with various partners. Responsibilities include monitoring models for drift, equity, and performance over time. This role will also be responsible for developing integrations, packaging models and providing other technology components to support machine learning models throughout the model's lifecycle.
Core responsibilities also include coordination, implementation, and technical troubleshooting of machine learning projects across sites and partners. This role will also assess the resources, skills, processes, and interest of sites, researchers, and other partner groups. They will help to onboard sites in machine learning projects including steps for project enrollment and initiating technical set-up.
Create and manage infrastructure in cloud (AWS / Azure) for sharing AI/ML models among different entities (internal and external)
Experience with setting up GPU servers and load balancing, implementing alerting and monitoring tools etc.
Skilled in creating CI/CD pipelines for sharing and promoting code in cloud across different environments.
Implementing DevOps models across different projects and programs
Able to manage containers, automation, security, configuration management
Facilitate data preparation particularly for images, notes and other unstructured data for analysis. Utilize basic medical image processing knowledge and experience for data preparation and processing.
Work with architecture, data scientist experts, applications. data platform, and infrastructure functions to translate requirements into proper analyses for training, simulation, or production. This includes being able to translate dataset requirements into GPU requirements, size of jobs, and other specifications.
Manage and lead machine learning projects over their life cycle. Adhere to best SDLC practices through different stages of the project.
Evaluate performance of models over time monitoring models for drift, equity, and validity.
Develop integrations, packaging of models and provide other technology components to support machine learning models throughout the model's lifecycle.
Work with investigators, data scientists/analysts, and sites to help sites prep data for analysis for various needs (e.g., simulation, training, other).
Assist investigators, data scientists/analysts, and sites with preprocessing of data, which involves data prep locally, using scripts and ensure data is in the correct format locally and with other sites.
Leads design, development, testing and implementation of Business Intelligence (BI) solutions for enterprise
Analyzes, visualizes and models data to provide insight and actionable recommendations independently
Provide operational leadership in the design and development of a broad scope of highly critical and visible internal and customer applications.
Researches and incorporates benchmark data as applicable across different platforms.
Designs and manages related databases and applications, along with data standards.
Audits processes, analyzes trends and recommends process improvements.
This position also provides mentoring and guidance to the team members on technical and business matters.
Ability to present to senior management and other key senior stakeholders
Undergraduate degree in comp science or data science or equivalent combination of work experience and education
10+ years experience with machine learning including deep learning techniques, basic socket programming, and virtual machine/container frameworks including experience in Linux, Python, deep learning frameworks (pytorch and tensorflow), standard container environments (docker, anaconda).
5+ years of cloud experience (Azure / AWS).
5+ Basic (medical) image processing knowledge and experience
Strong communication capabilities
SQL or other non-relational databases
Code and process documentation
M.S. or Ph.D in computer science, data science, or equivalent
R and other statistical package programming
MONAI ( https://monai.io/ ) or other imaging processing tools or experience in 3D medical data visualization
