The Facility Manager is directly responsible for managing and coordinating the operational and administrative functions of the Electrical work group and operation within the Facilities Management department of Vanderbilt Medical Center. The Facility Manager is responsible for a staff of approximately 20 department electricians along with 20 or more contractor staff working through the Electrical operation on a daily basis, as well as various subcontractors associated with specific projects. The Facility Manager will supervise staff and supervisors, manage work load and work flow, coordinate projects, direct staff functions and develop policies and procedures. Develop programs, procedures, etc., for cost containment and space assessment; produce capital budgets and monitor facility(ies) budget; set expectations and identify metrics for evaluation of performance for both individual staff and overall work group. Coordinate intra- and inter-departmental facility services.
Vanderbilt Medical Center Facilities Management is responsible for maintaining all facility operations, including general maintenance, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC systems, refrigeration, fire alarms, and building structures in accordance with all applicable building standards, fire codes, and the following:

Additional Key Responsibilities:
Manage human resources within area of responsibility; including organization, work assignments, staffing level recommendations, recruitment, collective bargaining agreement administration, Human Resources and department policies, central time and attendance system, etc.
Responsible for identifying training needs, securing training resources, implementation of training programs, and the continuous development and implementation of the Electrical Safety Program within the work group.
Oversee compliance to all local codes, Southern Building Codes, ICC International Building Code, Joint Commission requirements, NFPA Life Safety Code s , other NFPA, OSHA, and TOSHA standards relating specifically to the Electrical work group operation. Knowledge and expertise with hospital and clinic based requirements of authorities having jurisdiction and groups like Joint Commission, with specific expertise in the area of Essential Electrical Systems and Emergency Power Supply Systems is preferred. This compliance effort includes but is not limited to employee training in the areas listed above, and enforcement of these standards within the manager's area of responsibility.
Prevent excessive deferred maintenance backlogs through continuous life-cycle analysis of equipment. Evaluating and recommending to Administration options such as repair, replace, etc. Develop Capital Project plan and budget for area of responsibility.
Assist with the design and planning of new buildings and renovation of existing spaces. This function includes, but is not limited to (1) advising planning staff with regards to preferred equipment types, manufacturers etc., (2) advising engineering staff concerning best design practices within particular building types and Medical Center Standards, 3) assisting planning staff in value engineering decisions for the purposes of cost control and energy savings . , and (4) cost estimating and project scheduling for renovation projects performed by Facilities Management, (5) development and implementation of energy conservation and efficiency initiatives.
Participate in department-wide strategic planning, manage operating expenditures, and make budget recommendations for the manager's area of responsibility.
