Job Summary
Assumes primary responsibility for providing high level facilities planning, which includes defining and quantifying options for space needs within the System.
Job Duties
- Directs the process which defines the functional program, scope and architectural characteristics of new projects, ensuring adequate user and planning staff involvement and interchange has been achieved to insure optimum results.
- Works with user departments to plan and program space needs.
- Develops recommendations for all allocation and addition of space.
- Serves in a problem solving capacity in the decision making process with regard to facilities and programs with primary responsibility for recommending appropriate course of action.
- Functions in a staff capacity with direct access to medical and management staff leadership in matters pertaining to proper utilization, revision and expansion of facilities and programs.
- Works with external architects and consultants facilitating their access to appropriate internal resources.
- Assists in the preparation of project applications to external planning and approval agencies, developing background material necessary for formal and informal presentations to these agencies as may be required to ensure desired results.
- Develops recommendations for space, equipment and programs and service changes.
- Liaisons with various departments on matters pertaining to project budgets, space allocation,occupancies and accounting processes.
- Maintains the overall project schedule.
- Assists in the budgeting of new facility or renovation projects.
- Coordinates the 'move process' into new or renovated facility.
- Acts as an expediter to assure that the appropriate departments and services meet schedules to complete the 'move process'.
- Plans and coordinates system furniture reconfigurations or new installations.
- Assists in developing and maintaining system standards for furniture and furnishings.
- Performs assessments and evaluations on facilities and sites proposed for acquisition.
- Assists in the development of master planning concepts and models for orderly development of facilities throughout the system.
