Job Summary
Responsible for all phases of interior design project development from project inception through working drawings and specifications as required to prepare project for bid and subsequent construction.
Job Duties
- Works directly with System management throughout all phases of design projects, ranging in a variety of scope and size.
- Interprets and understands the needs of Geisinger's clinical departments in order to suggest and execute well-informed, cost-effective design solutions.
- Works with in-house planning and construction departments as well as Geisinger physicians, administrators and clinical staff on capital funded projects and maintenance renovations.
- Plans and coordinates interior design scope and tasks of all projects from inception, through bid phase, until completion.
- Emphasis focused on program research, schematic design, preliminary design, design development, and construction drawings.
- Gathes cost data throughout each phase.
- Integrates and coordinates interior design content with architectural content throughout the construction documentation process.
- Uses AutoCAD and Revit to prepare interior architectural documents such as finish plans, furniture plans, ceiling plans, legends, schedules, elevations and details.
- Models and develops interior spaces and selects finishes and furnishings using knowledge of health care facilities, codes, and regulations.
- Determines and develops system-wide standards in accordance with the considerations above.
- May work as project manager serving as a designer and coordinator to a team comprised of senior and junior draftsmen for larger, more complex problems.
- Coordinates, prepares and presents interior design schemes using visual aids such as finish boards, plans, elevations, three-dimensional models and renderings.
- Coordinates with MEP engineers and systems furniture consultants.
- Reviews and approves submittals and attends construction meetings as required to ensure design intent as set forth in construction documents is carried out.
- Assists in resolution of problems which may develop during construction phase resulting from documentation.
- Ensures that anticipated problems in manufacturing, assembly, installation, and operation are resolved by drawings produced.
- Acts as a liaison between outside architectural and interior design consultants to ensure that design needs are met while working with Geisinger standards.
- Develops and maintain the Interior Design Resource Library.
- Assists with selection, ordering, and installation of furnishings.
- Designs and selects furniture, artwork, and accessories suitable to each department's patient needs and demographics.
