Plans, organizes, and directs system wide environmental, health and safety program element integration during the design, risk assessment and implementation of projects.
Projects include, but are not limited to, construction, demolition, renovation, repairs, or maintenance activities that affect the physical environment within Orlando Health facilities.
This position will facilitate multidisciplinary teams to align and standardize safety program design elements for all project types; manage the pre-construction risk assessment process; lead associated education programs and assess program compliance.
Preferred experience:
Knowledge and understanding of safety related design standards
Large scale and hospital-based project involvement experience
Functional expert in environmental, health, and safety disciplines
Essential Functions
Develops and aligns project safety strategies to the goals and objectives of the organization.
Develops and maintains environmental, health and safety standard design requirements, in collaboration with Corporate Safety leaders, Asset Strategy, and other internal partners as necessary.
Manages and oversees the pre-construction risk assessment program (PCRA), collaborating with internal and external partners to evaluate and improve the program. This includes, but is not limited to, operational planning, affected policy(s), forms, and training.
Participates in and represents Corporate Safety in project design, planning and/or coordination meetings.
Develops, implements, and maintains training programs associated with project safety management including, but not limited to, pre-construction risk assessment and contractor education.
Collaborates with internal partners to ensure effective implementation and compliance with project safety management requirements.
Conducts periodic site inspections to assess PCRA, OSHA, and public protection compliance. Provides feedback to project and/or facility leadership on compliance concerns for their resolution.
Assesses compliance with completion and accuracy of PCRA related documentation according to Orlando Health policies during periodic documentation reviews.
Provides assistance with code research.
Acts as primary Database Administrator (DBA) for Contractor Education database.
Effectively facilitates focused communication and problem solving across and with multidisciplinary teams.
Maintains regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
Collaboratively assists the Senior Director in budget estimates, controls expenditures, and establishes operational standards for the Corporate Safety Department.
Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with all levels of leadership.
Maintains professional discipline and adherence to appropriate policies and procedures of the department.
Stays informed of evolving technology, new standards and regulations related to environmental, health and safety and makes appropriate recommendations to implement improvements.
Education/Training Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, healthcare facilities management, engineering, construction safety or related field OR 4 years’ experience Licensure/Certification None. Experience Eight (8) years of progressively responsible management experience in safety, healthcare facilities management or closely related field. Including three (3) years of management experience required.
