Job Summary:
JOB SUMMARY
This is a full-time position with Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) and offers challenge, visibility and a chance to make a difference in healthcare technology. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, competitive salary and a highly collaborative environment.
The Principal End User Architect provides leadership for Desktop Engineering, Integrations team function. Takes business requirements and creates new Desktop deliver capabilities. Determines the workstation environment, provides an enterprise base image for the end point, supports enterprise software installs, leads quality assurance, and push final documentation. Coaches the development of team members.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Team lead, some administrative duties.
- Deploys software, patches and updates.
- Develops and maintains installation and configuration procedures.
- Understand policies to ensure the day-to-day procedures are in support.
- Audit standard procedures which validate procedures and controls in place.
- Assists with Strategic Planning and short- and long-term roadmaps.
- Assists in maintaining efficient operation and effectiveness of supported services.
- Manages projects/processes, working under general supervision.
- Provides trend analysis with actionable items.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES
- Strong background in Microsoft Endpoint Manager, specifically for Windows 10/11 devices.
- Understands Microsoft 365 products including Office, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint.
- Knowledge of supporting technologies including but not limited to: Windows Update for Business, Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Microsoft Graph, Microsoft Configuration Manager, conditional access policies, and strong authentication.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts and technologies to both technical teams as well as senior leaders.
- Ability to partner with internal and external business partners.
- PowerShell experience, and ability to understand other scripting languages.
- Familiar with Microsoft 365 licensing and feature management.
- Familiar with Microsoft Information Protection features, including Azure Rights Management and Unified Labeling.
- Relative certifications and experience a plus.
- Project Support (Fundamental Awareness): Understands the basic elements of project management. Aware of techniques used for planning and estimating work, including work breakdown structures. Has developed time estimates for projects and own assignments.
- Desktop Knowledge (Intermediate): Demonstrates mastery of the best practices in practical applications of a difficult nature. Recommends improvements to best practices in area of specialty. Possesses sufficient knowledge, training, and experience to be capable of successfully following best practices without requiring support and instruction from others. Able to train and educate by setting the example, giving appropriate instruction, providing leadership, and generally raising the level of performance of others while on the job.
