Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington.

The primary duty of the Electrical Supervisor is to supervise the Electrical team and all work related to Electrical Team. The Electrical Supervisor backs up the person(s) responsible for: Life Safety, life safety compliance testing, and impairments. The Electrical Supervisor will manage specific functional programs outlined below and be part of the after hours on-call rotation.
This postion will be onsite at our South Lake Union campus and not eligible for remote work.
Responsibilities
Supervise Electrical Team
- Ensure all work is being performed in a safe, productive and timely manner
- Ensure the departments Electrical Safety plan is fully implemented and adhered to
- Ensure all electrical equipment is properly maintained, tested and replaced as needed
- Provide Coaching and Guidance
- Create plan for continuous Electrical Team development
- Conduct Annual Performance Appraisals
- Address Performance Issues
- Fill team vacancies
Supervise Electrical Maintenance and Project Work
- Oversee/Schedule repairs, work orders and PM's for safety, quality, accuracy and completion
- Ensure that all generator testing and maintenance is performed in accordance with codes, regulations and Fred Hutch practices
- Participate in weekly Work Order review meeting. Provide details or explanations as required
- Determine which work should be contracted due to skills required or work backlog
Supervise related Contractors and Vendors
- Maintain relationship with vendors used to support electrical equipment
- Coordinate/Schedule work on behalf of department or customers as required
- Ensure that electrical safety plans, Arc Flash Safety, Lock Out Tag Out practices are current, up to date and effective
Facilitate Electrical Team Training
- Identify training topics and create team training program
- Present/coordinate training 6 to 12 times per year for entire Facilities Engineering Team
- Assist with Watchstander/Off-shift training for related systems
Act as liaison between customers and department for electrical issues
- Oversee scheduling, planning, construction coordination and accommodation for all electrical outages
- Coordinate with Planning Department
- Coordinate Repairs, Retrofits and Minor Remodels
- Resolve large customer challenges
- Assess and advise customers in advance of impending equipment replacement
Performs quality control inspections of the life safety testing documents.
- Ensure all deficiencies are corrected in timely manner
- Ensure all testing is completed per required schedules
Ongoing Electrical Operations
- 20 Year Plan - Identify Building Systems related to electrical equipment/systems that are candidates for capital replacement programs
- Perform annual building audit. Create short or long-term corrective strategies
- Ensure that UPS batteries are properly maintained.
- Develop strategy for UPS and battery maintenance, capacity and flexibility
Other Duties as required
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in an Engineering field (preferably Mechanical or Electrical) is required unless advanced skills and experience can be demonstrated as equivalent to education requirement
- Four or more years of increasing responsibilities in facilities maintenance and operations for a large bio-medical research, hospital, heavy manufacturing facilities or other equipment intensive zero downtime operation is desired
- Experience with Electrical Maintenance Operations
- Experience with Joint Commission and DOH Inspections preferred
- Strong management and leadership skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Strong computer skills in a windows environment including Microsoft Office

The annual base salary range for this position is from $91,936 to $145,318, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
